mcgucket: (talk to the fursona)
Hey there! It's time to talk turkey: since Christmas 2016, Fiddleford McGucket has been in possession of a device called the Memory Gun. It's an invention of his own making with the ability to erase specific memories from a person's mind, depending on what's typed into the console. Haunted by the memory of your own death here in Wonderland? No problem, just a zap from the gun and you won't remember the gruesome details of dying anymore! Horrifying monsters from past events creeping up in your dreams? Zap those memories too and you'll sleep soundly again!

Of course, as you can imagine, there are... problems with this, especially given how much memory loss is already a problem in Wonderland. And even putting aside the possible ethical implications, there are unfortunate side effects from using the Memory Gun to erase too many of your memories.

--All memories erased are ultimately only temporarily gone. They can be triggered again with a strong enough reminder or influence, so you get to relive the trauma all over again!
-- Erasing too much starts to affect certain motor and kinetic skills: you're prone to tripping or dropping objects and other slight acts of klutziness a little more than usual
-- It will also affect short-term memory or even memories that you may not have intended to forget: it can be as small as forgetting a word to forgetting what someone's name was or what their face looked like even if they were some important to you before

So where do you guys come in? Well, this is an opt-in post for anyone who would like to get involved in temporary memory loss shenanigans from having been exposed to Fiddleford's memory gun. No threading is required for this, it is perfectly fine to handwave the actual memory erasing if you wish. (Plus, your character won't even remember having spoken to Fiddleford when he wiped that memory anyway) You can decide how long you want the memory to be gone, and if you want your character hit with the side effects of it until their memory returns.

However, it should be noted that robots/characters with some sort of metal plate or attachment to their head can be immune to it if zapped with the memory gun. The gun doesn't like metal, you see.

Just fill out this handy form and comment to this post here with it! If you have any questions, I'll be happy to answer them.

Society: (could your character be convinced that erasing other people's memories too is a good idea? yes or no)
mcgucket: (did you just say you're "solly"?!?)
Please feel free to drop a comment or constructive criticism here at this post and I'll see what I can do to improve! Any questions in general can be brought here as well if you don't know how else to reach me. Comments are anon enabled with ip logging disabled.

backtagging/threadjacking: yes to both! no matter how late it is, I always welcome backtags.
fourthwalling: as long as you don't act like you know every intimate detail of his life it should be fine
hugging/kissing/flirting: oh... u///u. I'm gonna say yes to hugging and flirting, kissing on the other hand might be a bit too much for him to handle atm.
fighting: injuring and fighting is fine. killing is something I'd rather talk about first though.
mind-reading/brainwashing/hypnosis: if you have a permissions post for this then I'll fill it out! otherwise, just ask first
triggers: I'm generally okay with anything that's IC for the character/situation. if it's something completely out of the blue then I'll generally let you know whether I'm comfortable with that or not.
